Dinacharya – Ayurveda Daily Regimen



DINACHARYA – DAILY ROUTINE

 

Ayurveda consider Dinacharya or Daily Routine as an integral part of a good health care system. A regular and consistent routine helps to bring a rhythm and harmony in the body and mind making them more stabilized.

  • Wake up early in the morning before sunrise – at Brahma muhurtha (between 4am – 6 am)
  • Wash your face and then splash water on the eyes for 4-5 times
  • Brush your teeth using natural tooth powders or paste.
  • Tongue scrapping, preferably with a copper scrapper which cleans your tongue and stimulates digestive system.
  • Gargle mouth with sesame oil for 3-5 minutes to ensure good oral health
  • Nasya – Instil 2 drops of oil to either nostril inhaling it deeply
  • Drink a glass of luke warm water added with lemon and honey
  • Evacuate bowel and bladder movements
  • Practise 15-30 minutes yoga, meditation and pranayama
  • Abhyanga – oiling both head and body for 15- 20 minutes followed by a warm water bath using herbal soaps and shampoos.
  • An oil enema at least 1-2 times a week is highly beneficial
  • Healthy and warm break fast
  • Select a job that gives happiness and stress free life
  • Make lunch the large meal of the day
  • Drink enough plain luke warm water throughout the day or take some herbal tea prepared of cardamom, cumin, ginger, basil or mint
  • Exercise for 30 minutes utilizing half the capacity of the body
  • A relaxing warm water shower after a day’s work will be greatly refreshing.
  • Light, warm and early dinner
  • 10 minutes meditation and prayers before sleep
  • Regular and healthy sleeping routine
