Ayurveda Home Remedies

Ayurveda is a health care system that originated thousands of years ago and is in very close connection with day-to-day life to create harmony between body, mind, and soul. It developed its roots by deep observing, understanding, experiencing, and applications of natural and its belongings.
Ayurveda says not a single herb born to mother earth is non-medicinal, even a minute grass you step on in your way is medicinal in one way or another. So, how about incorporating these natural remedial measures into your everyday life? Some commonly found and easily available herbs and spices can serve you better in a first aid kit against what is ailing you.

FEVER, COMMON COLD, COUGH

  • Prepare tea with 1 teaspoon dry ginger powder, half teaspoon black pepper powder, 8 -10 Tulasi leaves, and 3-4 cloves of garlic. All boiled in two glasses of water reduced to one glass. Add some jaggery or honey. Drink this 2-3 times a day
  • Prepare a mix of 5 ml shallot juice + 5 ml ginger juice + 2 gram black pepper powder + 10 ml honey. Take half a teaspoon frequently.
  • For cold and cough taking vapors of turmeric and tulsi leaves in water for 3-5 minutes will be very effective.
  • Frequently sniffing of some black cumin tied in a thin cloth relieves cold and cough.

HEADACHE

  • Apply sandalwood powder paste in rose water on the forehead to relieve migraine and other headaches.
  • Can apply the mustard paste over the forehead and cover with a cloth in Vata type headache.
  • Apply coriander/ Krishna tulsi leaf pate over the forehead.
  • Prepare a decoction by boiling 10 grams of black gram with 1 glass of milk and 1 glass of water reduced to 1 glass and take half glass twice daily to relieve of migraine.
  • Having a relaxing foot massage also relieves pain.
  • A salt water nasal drop also is beneficial.

SUDDEN ATTACK OF ASTHMA

  • Boil 1 glass of water with 1 teaspoon of ginger and 1 teaspoon of licorice powder reducing to one-fourth glass. Drink this warm with 5-6 drops of honey.
  • Apply some mustard oil boiled with camphor over the chest region. Wipe it off after 30 minutes and repeat after 2 hours.
  • Boil 1 teaspoon of carom seeds in 1 glass of water and drink this. Also, its vapors can be inhaled.

SORE THROAT

  • Gargle with warm water mixed with honey or Gargle warm water with a pinch of turmeric and salt.
  • 1 teaspoon of licorice powder with honey is beneficial.

INDIGESTION

  • Take 2 teaspoons of fresh ginger juice, and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice with a pinch of salt.
  • Give some hot application to the abdomen.
  • Dry ginger powder mixed with jaggery a few minutes before meals aid in better digestion.
  • Drinking buttermilk boiled with turmeric, curry leaves, cumin, garlic, and pepper powder helps in quick digestion.

TASTELESSNESS

  • 1-2 teaspoons of fresh ginger juice +lemon juice + a pinch of salt half an hour before meals daily.
  • Drink cardamom or dry ginger boiled water throughout the day.
  • Pomegranate improves tastelessness condition.

CONSTIPATION

  • 2-3 teaspoons of Triphala powder with hot water before sleep.
  • Add more fruits and vegetables to your diet like guava, pears, papaya, fig, oranges, spinach, broccoli, etc
  • Drink a glass of lukewarm water with 2 teaspoons of honey and 2 teaspoons of honey early morning on an empty stomach.
  • 2-3 teaspoons of castor oil works as a good laxative.

DIARRHOEA

  • Black tea with lemon juice and a pinch of salt.
  • Rice boiled water with a pinch of salt.
  • Take 1teaspoon fresh ginger juice with half a teaspoon of nutmeg powder and a pinch of salt in every two hours.
  • Omelette prepared with one hand full of curry leaves made paste smashed in 1 egg.

NAUSEA VOMITING

  • Drink tea prepared of carom seeds and cloves with a pinch of salt or drink coriander water.
  • Cloves made paste in water mixed with sugar can be licked frequently.
  • A paste of peppermint, Krishna tulsi, and fennel seeds can be taken.
  • Pomegranate juice, lemon juice, and fresh ginger juice work well in relieving vomiting.

ABDOMINAL GAS/ BLOATING

  • Chew and eat some cumin seeds or prepare a tea with it and drink.
  • Provide a hot application on abdominal and lower back areas.
  • Take 1 tablespoon of fresh ginger juice with a pinch of salt.

ACIDITY/ GASTRIC REFLUX

  • Chew some cloves, cumin, or basil leaves after food.
  • Drink cardamom water or mint water.
  • Drink a glass of cold milk with a pinch of turmeric or fresh ginger juice.
  • Half a glass of amla or gooseberry juice is highly effective.

HICCUPS

  • Dissolve half teaspoons of sugar in the mouth.
  • Cardamom tea or ginger tea or lemon tea is helpful.
  • Take very deep inhalations and exhalations.
  • Age-old remedy is someone making you frightened all of a sudden

BLEEDING

  • Apply an ice pack immediately to the bleeding area.
  • Apply a paste of turmeric with honey or aloe vera gel.
  • 2-3 teaspoons of Cynodon herb juice internally arrest bleeding.
  • Milk boiled with sandal and saffron took lukewarm arrests bleeding

ANAEMIA

  • Take shallots with jaggery.
  • Black raisins improve anemia.
  • Include beetroots, apple, black sesame seeds, pomegranate, dates, whole grains, and legumes in your food.

ACNE

  • Apply a paste of turmeric, neem, and sandalwood powder in plain water or rose water to the affected area.
  • Half a cup of aloe vera juice daily on an empty stomach
  • Once in two weeks do purgation with castor oil or any purgative medicines

DIABETES

  • Drink a glass of juice prepared of 4-5 gooseberry and 1 teaspoon of turmeric early in the morning on empty stomach.

EAR ACHE

  • Instill 2 drops of garlic oil into the ears prepared by boiling juice of 10 cloves of garlic in 5 ml of oil.
  • Instill slightly warmed ginger juice 3-4 drops to the ear.

EYE HEALTH

  • Instill 2-3 drops of breast milk or rose water or tender coconut water to the eyes if there occurs any eye irritation or redness. Ayurveda considers breast milk the best medicine for all sorts of eye diseases.
  • Eyewash with filtered gooseberry decoction Licorice decoction or Triphala decoction is best for eye ailments.
  • 2-3 teaspoons of Triphala powder with an unequal quantity of ghee and honey taken at bedtime regularly is much more efficient for eye health.

ORAL HEALTH

  • Applying a paste of clove powder with salt or gargling with decoction prepared of this relieves toothache and gum disorders.
  • Daily gargling with 1 teaspoon of sesame oil in half a cup of water to keep teeth, tongue, and gums healthy.
  • Gargling with Licorice decoction is also beneficial in oral disorders.

JOINT PAIN

  • A warm poultice of dry ginger paste on the affected area helps.
  • Prepare your own medicated oil by slow boiling 10-12 cloves of garlic, 2 teaspoons dry ginger, command e Neem leaves in 250 ml sesame or mustard oil for about 5-10 minutes, and apply this to the affected area with a pinch of salt or camphor

BURNS

  • Apply aloe vera gel or honey.
  • Turmeric-made paste in coconut oil can be applied.

WOUND

  • Apply turmeric powder to the wound. Can apply along with honey or aloe vera gel.
  • Neem leaves, touch me not plant also are good for wound healing.

MENSTRUAL CRAMPS

  • Prepare tea prepared with 2 teaspoons of cumin or fenugreek seeds boiled in 1 glass of water reduced to half a glass. Drink warm.
  • Hot application on the lower abdomen and lower back area relieves cramps.
  • 1-2 tablespoons of aloe vera gel taken every two hours relieves cramps.

URINARY PROBLEMS

  • Barley- cardamom water is highly beneficial. 1 tablespoon barley boiled in a glass of water with a pinch of cardamom powder.
  • Take Asparagus root (tuber) juice 20 ml twice daily. Or take asparagus root milk decoction.
  • Tender coconut water with cardamom or coriander powder.

POISONOUS BITES

  • Apply a paste of white sandal or Krishna Tulasi (holy basil) or turmeric to the affected area.
  • Apply a paste of crushed shallots (small red onions) to the affected area.
  • Aloe vera gel also can be applied.

NOTE: These are some simple things which you can follow at home. Try with all the ingredients if they are available or make use of those 1 or 2 available with you.

Most important is these remedies are for mild conditions, but when it is of a high degree don’t wait to consult with your doctor at the earliest.
